Sheila Latta > Peacock Butterfly, Green Swallow-tail

This is a magnificent butterfly found only in the wild on the island of Sulawesi (Indonesia), mostly the north of the island. Sexes are fairly similar, and striking. The ground colour is black dusted with green scales, and there is a prominent iridescent green band crossing both wings. Green chevrons ring the hindwing and the tail is a stunning blue green colour, sometimes greenish. The butterfly inhabits the rainforest.
Sheila Latta > Orcas and Turnpoint Lighthouse.

Turn Point Lighthouse sits upon the northwestern tip of Stuart Island. Canadian bound ships, migrating Orcas and the US and Canadian Border all follow a route that passes right in front of this unassuming little station.
